Who We Are
The Epilepsy Center at Johns Hopkins evaluates and cares for all patients with seizure disorders - children through the elderly. A unique aspect of our Epilepsy Center is that we provide a continuum of care for our patients "through the ages." We have built a team that includes both pediatric and adult specialists so that as patients grow, their specific needs can continue to be addressed.
We provide expert and individually tailored treatment plans for patients with even the most difficult to control seizures. These plans are designed to control or substantially reduce seizure frequency and enable each patient to live full and productive lives. Treatment modalities include antiepileptic medications, dietary management, neurostimulation, and seizure surgery when appropriate. We have ongoing clinical trials and basic research investigations to help develop new treatments for future applications. We are able to provide a comprehensive approach to the patient in collaboration with a wide variety of other specialties including neuropsychology, neuroradiology, and psychiatry.
The epilepsy team blends their knowledge of current and evolving therapies into the care of each patient, allowing for the latest and most advanced treatments to be incorporated into the individual treatment plans we create. We are a member of the National Association of Epilepsy Centers and also work with other epilepsy centers, The Epilepsy Foundation of the Chesapeake Region, The Epilepsy Foundation of America, The American Epilepsy Society and The International League Against Epilepsy to enhance the care of patients locally and throughout the United States and the world.
