Aging and Neuropsychiatric Disorders Fellowship Program
Cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders (CD) are increasingly common with advancing age. Assessment and management of patients requires special training and research in this area has been expanding rapidly. Fellows in this training program will complete didactic training in age-related cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders, biostatistics, and ethical conduct of research. Fellows conduct original research, under the supervision of a faculty mentor. The original research is expected to fall broadly within the area of aging and age-related neuropsychiatric disorders, and focus within the domains of: animal models, neuroimaging, clinical research or population studies.
The postdoctoral portion of this training program can be one or two years in duration, and starts after completion of an accredited Residency in Neurology or Psychiatry or the completion of a doctoral degree in a related area. This is an interdisciplinary program, thus mentors include senior faculty from the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry at the School of Medicine, the Department of Mental Health in the School of Public Health and the Department of Psychology and Brain Sciences at the School of Arts and Sciences.
This training program is funded by the National Institute on Aging. Eligibility is consistent with standard NIH guidelines regarding postdoctoral trainees.
