Application Process
Beginning with the 2009 match, application for positions must be made through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). All candidates must be registered for the match with the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).
The Johns Hopkins deadline to submit your application for the 2009 match (positions beginning in Neurosurgery July 2010) is October 20, 2008. Applications submitted to ERAS after that date will not be accepted.
We anticipate contacting prospective candidates regarding interviews by mid-November, after we have had the opportunity to review the Dean's letters. Around this time, we strongly urge you to check daily both e-mail and voice-mail for messages regarding interviews, however, our primary method of notification regarding selection for interviews will be via e-mail messages.
INTERVIEW DATES FOR THIS MATCH ARE:
MONDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2008 and MONDAY, JANUARY 12, 2009
When the review process is complete and applicants for interview have been determined, all those selected will be notified simultaneously by e-mail, followed by telephone calls if no response via e-mail received within 24 hours. Because we can only accomodate a limited number of applicants on each date, appointments are scheduled based on the order in which applicants respond to notification of being selected.
All interviewees are invited to dinner with our residents the evening prior to their interview. A second dinner is held for all candidates to attend with our faculty at the conclusion of their interview day. We understand that travel constraints may make it difficult to attend these events, and therefore your attendance is not mandatory but you are strongly encouraged to attend if possible. We feel that these casual dinners provide an ideal opportunity for candidates to learn more details.
